The League City Rotary will host a mobile distribution this Friday, March 27th, at Hometown Heroes Park. I will need 35 volunteers to run this drive-thru mobile distribution effectively. Volunteers will need to meet at Hometown Heroes Park at 1030 AM. The truck will arrive at 11 AM, and we will begin distribution by 1 PM.

I recognize that the Galveston County Commissioners Court has instituted a stay at home order. We are exempt from this order while serving economically disadvantaged populations. We need to arrive, do our work, and disburse immediately upon completion.

The Galveston County Food Bank has also issued some additional guidelines for us to follow. Similar to last week's truck:
  • all clients will remain in their vehicles at all times,
  • food will be placed in the trunk of a car or bed of a truck, should a client need food to go in the back seat, we will leave the food on the side of the vehicle, back away 6 feet and the client will need to place the food inside their car,
  • volunteers must wear gloves,
  • food must be bagged and boxed before being given to a client.
  • BRING YOUR OWN WATER TO DRINK with YOUR NAME ON THE BOTTLE
  • Strongly encourage you to wear a hat to keep you from touching your face and hit will be hot outside
Additionally, we will only be providing food for 250 families. Because, we know this upfront, I will work with the police officers helping with traffic to allow only 250 cars into the parking lot to get food. If you are volunteering, and a line has already formed, you will need to let the officer know you are arriving to work. With that being said, I need to know the names of all 35 volunteers ahead of time. Please respond using the link in this email if you will be volunteering. If you cannot make the link work or find it challenging to RSVP, please send me an email and I will RSVP for you.

I will only be asking for volunteers from within our Rotary group and those who have volunteered with us previously. I will not be asking for volunteers from the general community via Facebook, etc. No school-aged children will be permitted to volunteer.

I appreciate your commitment to serve in our community and look forward to another great day of helping food-insecure families in our community.

Sincerely,
Amy
